MARCH 2, 1956: INDEPENDENCE OF MOROCCO

Signed seventy years ago, it accompanied the return from exile of Sultan Mohammed V and was celebrated with splendour during the Throne Day in Fez in 1966. This event was filmed by Bernard Rouget, photographer, man of letters and filmmaker, who followed the King on numerous trips to the Middle East. His images can be found in the films “Connaissance du Monde” as well as in unedited rushes entrusted to GP Archives by his rights holders.

THE FIRST AIR TRAVEL TROUGHOUT EUROPE

GP archives is proud to announce that a digitally restored copy of “The First Air Travel Throughout Europe” – a 90-minute film directed by Charles Metzger produced by Gaumont in 1922 – will be previewed at the Budapest Classics Film Marathon on September 18, 2025. The film has been reedited in accordance with the original version and digitally restored from the nitrate negatives prints stored by GP archives.
