Each of these archives brings together a series of shots, grouped by topic, relating to various stories and outtakes from the news .

Generally very short, the “AL” and “DD” archives – for the most part dating back to the 1930s – were intended for future programmes. Some of these shots are one-of-a-kind; others include extra footage that was not originally broadcast .

The “AL” series is named for Robert Alexandre, the celebrated editor of Pathé Journal .
