Founded in 1981, the Orchidées agency has produced over 80 documentaries on topics related to development. This collection includes countless images of Africa, Asia and Latin America, as well as reports on immigration in France. The major themes of the series are agriculture, drought, urban poverty, traditional medicine and refugees.

The Orchidées collection also boasts an exclusive interview with Thomas Sankara, the President of Burkina Faso from 1983 until 15 October 1987, the day he was assassinated.
