From PAU to MONACO, with the Tour de FRANCE. At the 10th stage, the 100 runners remaining in race from PAU tackled the first great difficulties of a turn until there rather dull, but which will take after a dramatic incident sucession, a seldom equalled interest. The Spanish LORONO passed the AUBISQUE at the head in front of the Swiss KOBLET and HUBER, while Guy BUCHAILLE made a serious fall in full speed, precipitated in a ravine 60 metres from the road, BUCHAILLE had gone up rather badly in point. Le Tour was finished for it. But the descent of the AUBISQUE was still going to be inevitable to Hugo KOBLET, large favourite of the crowd, forced to abandonment by a fall, a car dût lead it at the stage. In CAUTERETS, ROBIC, ASTRUA and SCHAER arrived at the same time, 6 minutes after LORONO, triumphing from the day. Switzerland SCHAER preserves the yellow jacket. 11th stage, CAUTERETS/BAGNÈRES DE LUCHON. Of CAUTERETS to BAGNÈRES DE LUCHON, the 11th stage had to be "the ROBIC stage". Decided to grasp its chance, the Breton started with LE GUILLY on the slopes of the TOURMALET. After having released SCHAER, BOBET and LORONO, both men passed the top of the collar only, in full fog. At 1 minute 50, SCHAER profits from the descent and takes considerable risks to join the two escaped. But, to the ASPIN Collar, ROBIC always is at the head, only this time with 1 minute 48 in advance on SCHAER. Lastly, in BAGNÈRES DE LUCHON, ROBIC, still, arrived alone on the line and took at the same time the stage victory and the yellow jacket. 12th stage, BAGNÈRES DE LUCHON/ALBI. Consequently ROBIC was given as a winner in power and the yellow jacket seemed firmly hung to its shoulders. But all had to change before TOULOUSE. DARRIGADE and 26 runners released the group of the "aces" where was ROBIC. DARRIGADE gained the victory in ALBI and MAHE endorsed the leader's bathing suit. But MAHE is ROBIC fellow-member and it preserves all its chances at the start of the lendemein. 13TH STAGE, ALBI/BEZIERS. The French team decided then on against attacking under the leadership of BOBET. MAGNI and ASTRUA joined it. Heat was overwhelming and MAGNI received the shower with pleasure at the moment even where a new theatre knock was going everything to change. Far behind escaped, ROBIC made a fall and took up again the road only physically and morally decreased. In the laces of the Collar of 13 WINDS, tricolour, taken by BOBET and GEMINIANI, always are at the head. Last descent towards BEZIERS and the flat country. The team of FRANCE gained a splendid success with LAUREDI, followed by GEMINIANI, BOBET and ROLLAND.le yellow jacket passed on the shoulders of the Breton MALLEJAC, ROBIC fellow-member, which always suffering from its fall did not take up again the departure. 14TH STAGE, BEZIERS/NIMES. A very new turn was thus on the way at the dawn of the 14th stage, BEZIERS NIMES. NOLTEN and LE GUILLY, and three men whose QUENEHEN were at the head from one end to another. Final SPRINT was gained by QUENEHEN, and the yellow jacket remained to MALLEJAC. 15th stage, NIMES/MARSEILLE. 83 survivors took the departure along the sands of NIMES, towards MARSEILLE, at 173 kilometres. Led by MALLEJAC and BOBET, the group drives out behind 8 men escaped ARLES. The 8 runaway have 10 minutes in advance to the AIX EN PROVENCE supply. Arrived in MARSEILLE disputes itself to SPRINT between QUENTIN, VOORTING and FORESTRY. QUENTIN gains the stage, but the yellow jacket remains firmly held by MALLEJAC. 16th stage: MARSEILLE/MONACO. After PROVENCE, the ESTEREL and the MEDITERRANEE await the runners: a day of rest in MONACO and the mountain will give new turning to a Tour where uncertainty became the rule on forecasts. Summer visions, good mood in the group, le Tour is to water. Not for long, because a MIRANDO escape starts the battle. LORONO behind, is immediately followed of VAN GENECHTEN and of MOLINERIS. All four pass together on Promenade des Anglais, but the EZE Collar enables VEN EASTERN to go up and gain a beautiful victory in MONACO, term of this sixteenth stage.

Tour de FRANCE 1953. 10e étape PAU - CAUTERETS, 11e étape CAUTERETS - LUCHON, 12e étape LUCHON - ALBI, 13e étape ALBI - BEZIERS, 14e étape BEZIERS - NIMES, 15e étape NIMES - MARSEILLE, 16e étape MARSEILLE - MONACO. Affichette : Le Tour de FRANCE. De PAU à MONACO. A la 10e étape, les 100 coureurs restant en course au départ de PAU ont attaqué les premiers grandes difficultés d'un tour jusque là assez terne, mais qui va prendre après une sucession d'incidents dramatiques, un intérêt rarement égalé. L'Espagnol LORONO passait l'AUBISQUE en tête devant les Suisses KOBLET et HUBER, tandis que Guy BUCHAILLE faisait une chute grave en pleine vitesse, précipité dans un ravin à 60 mètres de la route, BUCHAILLE était remonté assez mal en point. Le Tour était fini pour lui. Mais la descente de l'AUBISQUE allait encore être fatale à Hugo KOBLET, grand favori de la foule, contraint à l'abandon par une chute, une voiture dut le conduire à l'étape. A CAUTERETS, ROBIC, ASTRUA et SCHAER sont arrivés en même temps, 6 minutes après LORONO, triomphateur du jour. Le Suisse SCHAER conserve le maillot jaune. 11e étape, CAUTERETS - LUCHON. De CAUTERETS à LUCHON, la 11e étape devait être "l'étape ROBIC". Décidé à saisir sa chance, le Breton démarrait avec LE GUILLY sur les pentes du TOURMALET. Après avoir laché SCHAER, BOBET et LORONO, les deux hommes passèrent le sommet du col seuls, en plein brouillard. A 1 minute 50, SCHAER profite de la descente et prend des risques considérables pour rejoindre les deux échappés. Mais, au Col d'ASPIN, ROBIC est toujours en tête, seul cette fois avec 1 minute 48 d'avance sur SCHAER. Enfin, à BAGNERES DE LUCHON, ROBIC, toujours, arrivait seul sur la ligne et prenait à la fois la victoire d'étape et le maillot jaune. 12e étape, LUCHON - ALBI. Dès lors ROBIC était donné comme vainqueur en puissance et le maillot jaune semblait solidement accroché à ses épaules. Mais tout devait changer avant TOULOUSE. DARRIGADE et 26 coureurs lachèrent le groupe des "as" où se trouvait ROBIC. DARRIGADE remportait la victoire à ALBI et MAHE endossait le maillot de leader. Mais MAHE est coéquipier de ROBIC et celui-ci conserve toutes ses chances au départ du lendemain. 13e étape, ALBI - BEZIERS. L'équipe tricolore décida alors de contre-attaquer sous la direction de BOBET. MAGNI et ASTRUA se joignirent à elle. La chaleur était accablante et MAGNI recevait la douche avec plaisir au moment même où un nouveau coup de théâtre allait tout changer. Loin derrière les échappés, ROBIC faisait une chute et ne reprenait la route que physiquement et moralement diminué. Dans les lacets du col des 13 VENTS, les tricolores, emmenés par BOBET et GEMINIANI, sont toujours en tête. Dernière descente vers BEZIERS et le pays plat. L'équipe de FRANCE remportait un magnifique succès avec LAUREDI, suivi de GEMINIANI, BOBET et ROLLAND.le maillot jaune passait sur les épaules du Breton MALLEJAC, coéquipier de ROBIC, lequel souffrant toujours de sa chute ne reprenait pas le départ. 14e étape, BEZIERS - NIMES. Un tour tout neuf était ainsi en route à l'aube de la 14e étape, BEZIERS - NIMES. NOLTEN et LE GUILLY, et trois hommes dont QUENEHEN étaient en tête d'un bout à l'autre. Le sprint final était remporté par QUENEHEN, et le maillot jaune restait à MALLEJAC. 15e étape, NIMES - MARSEILLE. 83 rescapés prenaient le départ le long des arènes de NIMES, vers MARSEILLE, à 173 kilomètres. Conduits par MALLEJAC et BOBET, le peloton chasse derrière 8 hommes échappés à ARLES. Les 8 fuyards ont 10 minutes d'avance au ravitaillement d'AIX en PROVENCE. L'arrivée à MARSEILLE se dispute au sprint entre QUENTIN, VOORTING et FORESTIER. QUENTIN remporte l'étape, mais le maillot jaune reste solidement tenu par MALLEJAC. 16e étape : MARSEILLE - MONACO. Après la PROVENCE, l'ESTEREL et la MEDITERRANEE attendent les coureurs : une journée de repos à MONACO et la montagne viendra donner une nouvelle tournure à un Tour où l'incertitude est devenue la règle en matière de pronostics. Visions estivales, bonne humeur dans le peloton, le Tour est aux eaux. Pas pour longtemps, car une échappée de MIRANDO déclenche la bataille. LORONO est immédiatement derrière, suivi de VAN GENECHTEN et de MOLINERIS. Tous les quatre passent ensemble sur la Promenade des Anglais, mais le Col d'EZE permet à VAN EST de remonter et de remporter une belle victoire à MONACO, terme de cette seizième étape. Cyclisme. Travelling avec BARTALI dans le col de SOULOR, dans la 10e étape et gros plan en course dans la 14e étape. Plan de Louison BOBET dans la 11e étape dans le TOURMALET, deuxième, il parle avec G LAPEBIE ; dans la 13e étape gros plan en course puis avec un gros bouquet à l'arrivée bien qu'il soit le troisième.
