The 111 survivors of the Tour de FRANCE crossed the Seine in ROUEN, on the way towards CAEN. The Alsatian HASSENFORDEN tried an escape with 7 men in its wheel. 15 Kilometres from arrival the group had almost 10 minutes in advance on the group and MALEJAC, detached at the last minute, gained its first stage victory. The yellow jacket passes SCHAER shoulders to that of HASSENFORDER. At the 6th stage, CAEN/LE MANS (206 kilometres). A closed level crossing with NICKEL SILVER causes serious disturbances in the group launched to the continuation of the yellow jacket: MAGNI jumps the barrier, Bernard GAUTHIER prefers passing through lower part. With more than an one quarter of hour in advance on the schedule envisaged, a group of 7 runners sank towards LE MANS where VAN GENEUGDEN gained the victory to SPRINT. HASSENFORDER, SCHAER and WAGTMANS are still leaders to the general classification, but stars still have their word to say. However, the 7th stage announced itself without history to the 104 runners remaining, flat course and a good journey. BOBET had to burst however as from the 4th kilometre, Bernard GAUTHIER sacrificed itself and gave it its wheel. A few kilometres further a series of falls caused one genuine bottling, 20 men to ground and GUERINEL, wounded, forced to abandonment. In the FLECHE, a group of 8 runners taken by ISOTTI, took 30 seconds to the group and preserved its advantage as far as NANTES where ISOTTI was disengaged to SPRINT in front QUENTIN. HASSENFORDER preserves its yellow jacket. From NANTES, night departure for the stage of the fiftieth anniversary which had to lead 100 runners in BORDEAUX after a course of 345 kilometres, the same which was already followed in 1903. The group crosses LA ROCHELLE in group. SCHAER would like to take up again the yellow jacket, and André BOURILLON supervises it closely. After an unfruitful escape attempt, the group involves itself after the TOURNAY bridge. Led by NOLTEN, a group of 5 men was detached after MONTENDRE: NOLTEN succeeds in releasing its workers at the kilometre 305 and was presented alone on the Stadium in Bordeaux. It crosses the finishing line with more than one minute in advance on VAN DER STOCKT, but HASSENFORDER is still leader. Rain met again the runners after their rest of BORDEAUX, on the PAU road. The Mount DE MARSAN supply causes some releasings which excite "eclectic" spectators' enthusiasm. Stars give their full measure, and release the HASSENFORDER yellow jacket: MAGNI won to SPRINT taking away the first victory for the Italian colours.

Affichette : Les 111 rescapés du Tour de FRANCE ont franchi la SEINE à ROUEN, en route vers CAEN. L'Alsacien HASSENFORDEN a tenté une échappée avec 7 hommes dans sa roue. A 15 kilomètres de l'arrivée le groupe avait près de 10 minutes d'avance sur le peloton et MALEJAC, détaché à la dernière minute, remportait sa première victoire d'étape. Le maillot jaune passe des épaules de SCHAER à celle d'HASSENFORDER. A la 6e étape, CAEN - Le MANS, 206 kilomètres. Un passage à niveau fermé à ARGENTAN provoque de sérieuses perturbations dans le peloton lancé à la poursuite du maillot jaune : MAGNI saute la barrière, Bernard GAUTHIER préfère passer par dessous. Avec plus d'un quart d'heure d'avance sur l'horaire prévu, un groupe de 7 coureurs fonçait vers Le MANS où VAN GENEUGDEN remportait la victoire au sprint. HASSENFORDER, SCHAER et WAGTMANS sont toujours leaders au classement général, mais les vedettes ont encore leur mot à dire. Pourtant, la 7ème étape s'annonçait sans histoire aux 104 coureurs restant, parcours plat et bonne route. BOBET devait crever pourtant dès le 4e kilomètre, Bernard GAUTHIER se dévoua et lui donna sa roue. Quelques kilomètres plus loin une série de chutes provoqua un véritable embouteillage, 20 hommes à terre et GUERINEL, blessé, contraint à l'abandon. A La FLECHE, un groupe de 8 coureurs emmenés par ISOTTI, prenait 30 secondes au peloton et conservait son avantage jusqu'à NANTES où ISOTTI se dégageait au sprint devant QUENTIN. HASSENFORDER conserve son maillot jaune. De NANTES, départ nocturne pour l'étape du cinquantenaire qui devait conduire 100 coureurs à BORDEAUX après un parcours de 345 kilomètres, le même qui fut déjà suivi en 1903. Le peloton traverse La ROCHELLE en groupe. SCHAER voudrait bien reprendre le maillot jaune, et André BOURILLON le surveille de près. Après une tentative d'échappée infructueuse, le peloton se regroupe après le pont de TOURNAY. Conduit par NOLTEN, un groupe de 5 hommes se détacha après MONTENDRE : NOLTEN réussit à lâcher ses compagnons au kilomètre 305 et se présenta seul sur le stade de BORDEAUX. Il franchit la ligne d'arrivée avec plus d'une minute d'avance sur VAN DER STOCKT, mais HASSENFORDER est toujours leader. La pluie retrouva les coureurs après leur repos de BORDEAUX, sur le chemin de PAU. Le ravitaillement de MONT de MARSAN provoque quelques lâchages qui excitent l'enthousiasme de spectateurs "éclectiques". Les vedettes donnent leur pleine mesure, et lâchent le maillot jaune HASSENFORDER : MAGNI gagna au sprint emportant la première victoire pour les couleurs italiennes. Cyclisme. Gros plan de BARTALI en course dans l'étape Le MANS - NANTES, il parle avec HASSENFORDER. A NANTES, il sort de son hôtel, pas content en donnant des autographes.
